Personality: Galen prefers to follow every rule in the rulebook to the letter, however when the situation demands it he can and will break a rule or two. He is fairly easygoing when he is off duty, although due to more interactions with the engineering systems on a starship he has developed a bit of an anti-social tendency.

Although he will spend time in the Holodeck or crew lounge, he will almost always be reading an Engineering Journal or some other type of PADD instead of socializing, although he has been trying to curb this tendency.

Appearance: Galen is six feet tall, and has an athletic build, weighing only 185 lbs. He has kept himself in shape although he does not enjoy doing physical exercise unless he has to. His baby blue eyes stand out under his usually uncombed dirty blonde hair.

Physical Health: Galen is in perfect physical health as of his last medical checkup when he graduated from the Academy in 2377.

Mental Health: Galen is normally quite levelheaded, however in dire circumstances he may become irrational.

Emotional Health: Galen is emotionally stable, although due to his lack of socializing his feelings can be hurt.

Important Events in his Life:
Ryan was born in 2357 in Leeds, UK, to Starfleet Commander Alec Galen, and wife Kathryn Galen. He was the second of two children born to the Galens. Ryan’s first four years of life were pretty uneventful. Commander Alex Galen was away for most of those four years, on board the Ambassador Class Starship USS New York, as the Executive Officer. From a young age all Ryan wanted to do was become a Starfleet Officer like his father.

In 2363, Alec Galen was assigned to Utopia Plantia Shipyards as the Commanding Officer. The Galens moved to Mars to be closer to Alec. Over the next six years Ryan became more and more interested in Starship Engineering and excelled in his Elementary school studies. Rather then attending classes in the Utopia Plantia Secondary School, Ryan’s father arranged for him to work with the Shipyard’s Chief Engineer for the next four years.

The Chief Engineer soon realized that Ryan had a real talent for Engineering, and allowed him (with the help of one of the base's many Warp Core Specialists) to work on the warp engines of ships that only required minor repairs. In the four years that he worked with the Engineering teams on Utopia Plantia Ryan serviced more then 50 warp cores.

Through letters of recommendation from both his father and the Chief Engineer, Ryan was admitted to Starfleet Academy in 2373. Ryan was allowed to go on the USS Republic Cadet Cruise for the first time at the beginning of his second year at the Academy. He was assigned to the Engineering Department of the aging Constitution Class Starship. During that cruise Ryan was able to improve the Republic’s Matter/Anti-Matter Reaction ratio by 15 percent.

At the end of the second semester of Ryan’s second year at the Academy, he received word that his father was missing in action after a skirmish with the Dominion in the Beta Omega Sector. Starfleet found no trace of the USS Brown and was forced to call off the search because of heavy Dominion activity in the area. Ryan did not let the loss of his father drag down his marks; he kept in the 90th percentile.

In 2376 Ryan’s brother Edward graduated from the Academy and was assigned to the USS Majestic. Ryan went on another cruise on the USS Republic, this time as the Cadet equivalent of an Executive Officer in 2376. Ryan graduated from the Academy in 2377 in the 94th percentile and was assigned to the USS Dragonstar a month after his graduation.

Following his first mission as the Dragonstar's Warp Core Specialist, he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and given the post of Assistant Chief Engineer. During a shore leave at Avalon Prime, Ryan and fellow Engineer Tommy McKenna helped one of McKenna's friends run a pub.

The Dragonstar was soon deployed to Delkathi space, as the Delkathi were making claims that they were under attack by Federation, Romulan, and Klingon vessels. Ryan was a member of the away time that explored the wreckage of an Akira Class Starship, the USS Thunderchild. While on board the Thunderchild, Ryan encountered what appeared to be his father. The experience really shook him up.

When Galen returned to the Dragonstar from the away mission he spent some time on the Holodeck. Later he was accidentally transferred to a Galaxy Class Starship in an alternate dimesion. Several other officers from the Dragonstar were also transported to this ship some how. Galen was the highest-ranking officer on the ship so he was forced to take command of the Dragonstar Officers. When the Galaxy Class ship suffered a catastrophic Warp Core Breach, Ryan ordered the Dragonstar crewmembers to the escape pods. While in the escape pods he was hailed by a Romulan Warbird with Lieutenant Vhilla, the Dragonstar's Chief of Security, on board.

Ryan turned command of the Dragonstar Officers over to Vhilla when they were beamed aboard the warbird. Shortly thereafter they were returned to the Dragonstar and the Dragonstar set a course back to Utopia Plantia at Mars, for some repairs, and shoreleave on Earth. During Ryan's experience in the alternate dimesion Galen realized in himself that he was falling in love with one of the Security Officer's on the Dragonstar, Ensign Kristin Ohman.

In 2381, after a near-fatal accident on the Dragonstar, Galen was replaced as Assistant Chief by Chris Hubbard. The accident had been related to the design of the Prometheus Class engines, and even with Galen's extensive background in warp theory, Starfleet felt that someone who had helped DESIGN the Prometheus Class engines would be better suited to help prevent any future accidents. Galen was reassigned as Weapons Specialist, which is not entirely out of his field since all of the Dragonstar's weapons are tied into the warp cores.

Talents/Abilities: Ryan has a knack for Engineering and Warp Core Physics is his specialty. Although he is able to maintain the warp core in pristine working order for long periods of time he also has skills in other areas. These areas include Operations, Science, and Tactical. He prefers Engineering assignments though he will work anywhere he is assigned.

Strengths: Ryan is brilliant Engineer. He is able to make repairs to Warp Cores quickly and efficiently. He is also familiar with Starship Operations and Science systems.

Limitations: Ryan is not a very outgoing person. He is very timid in large crowds although he is working to curb this limitation As he is now a Starfleet Officer, he will have to get used to large crowds.
