General Information Full Name: Paul Reilly Nicknames: None, but has several aliases. Place of Birth: El-Auria Current Home: USS Dragonstar Race: El-Aurian Rank: Captain Current Position: Executive Officer Age: 737 Gender: Male Height: 6'2" Weight: 225 pounds Hair Color: Brown Eye Color: Blue
Personal Information Personality: Although Paul is over 700 years old by Earth's standards, he is considered relatively young by El-Aurians. However, that length of time can have quite an effect on someone's personality. He has outlived every friend he has ever had, watching them grow old and die time and time again, and as a result can be reluctant to form relationships. While Paul may not want to get too close to another, he always wants to make and keep friends for as long as he can. He does tend to keep even his friends at a distance at times. Paul has a very easy going personality and is very easy to get along with, as long as you stay on his good side. As an El-Aurian, Paul can be very easy to talk to and combined with his experiences, can understand and relate to people. Paul has an ability to earn people's trust easily but getting his can be a far different matter. Paul has had events in his life that have shown him the darker sides of life and does not give his trust lightly. The only thing Paul trusts completely are his instincts. Paul possesses a great sense of humor, though at times it may be considered a little dark. He occasionally has been known to pull off some impressive pranks on people, and with a part of his history in crime, he knows how to get away with it. Two traits that are very important to Paul are honor and loyalty. Paul demands loyalty from his crew and more importantly his friends, and in return, gives his back ten fold. Paul would never leave a man behind and would risk everything to protect a friend and what's right. Paul respects authority and the chain of command, but never blindly follows any orders or rules. Most of the time he likes to tread along the thin lines set by rules and regulations. For many years Paul commanded a small trading vessel and did not, or perhaps was not able, to always follow every law in getting the job done. On Xenex, where he spent many years, he learned about leadership when he was reluctantly made head of a clan, which he considered his family for many years. He fought with his clan on Xenex for independence and was accepted by the Xenexians as one of their own, adopting many of their beliefs and values. Paul has recently learned a lot about his past, who he was, what he's accomplished, both good and bad, and regained many of his memories. Paul tends to keep his history private from others, especially some of the experiences he is not particularly proud of, and is not sure how he would be viewed by some of his friends if they found out. Appearance: Paul is a tall man with a rather light complexion. He has a rather average body but some muscle tone can be seen now and then. However, at times he can be incredibly intimidating and has been known to end disputes by simply looking at his opponent. He has very bright blue eyes that can make someone feel as though he is peering into their soul when he stares at them. He is always cleanly shaven and well kept. When he is not in his uniform he can usually be found wearing some sort of robe or variation of his former Xenexian or El Aurian attire. Physical Health: Excellent, he works out every day in his dojo program on the holodeck. He is an expert in several types of martial arts though he practices them more for the spiritual benefit of focusing his mind. He has a fondness for swords and is very proficient using a variation of a katana as his weapon of choice. Paul also enjoys mountain climbing and swimming. He is deceptively and unusually strong, possibly a side effect of genetic experimentation. Mental Health: Paul's mental health appears to be very well. As an El-Aurian he possesses some telepathic abilities, though the extent and power of which have not been determined and are somewhat of a mystery. Much of the El-Aurian race is unknown but Paul does possess their listening and empathic abilities, as well as their ability to sense beyond normal linear space-time. Paul's telepathic abilities are quite powerful but largely unexplored. Paul thinks his abilities may have inadvertently been increased when he was experimented on as they tend to flare up every now and then. Paul believes his clairvoyance, so to speak, is related to his instincts since both seem to be controlled subconsciously. Paul tries to practice with his abilities but is reluctant to purposely enter other people's minds. Paul's abilities also prevent other telepaths from entering his mind without his consent. Paul has been "interrogated" in the past by both Vulcans and Betazoids, neither of which able to sense anything he didn't want them to. Paul has led a long life so far and has experiences some can only dream about. He has also seen the darker side of life and has witnessed a lot of bloodshed. He has watched his friends grow up, grow old, and eventually die. Some people think such a long life span can be a gift, but Paul would disagree. He has watched empires rise and fall, races of beings kill each other, countless wars, and senseless deaths. Paul was once betrayed by a close friend who wanted to obtain his "immortality" and was ruthless in trying to understand it. Paul was subjected to genetic testing which led to numerous side effects, some of which may not have even surfaced yet. The experimentation Paul suffered may have triggered latent abilities, possibly inadvertently increasing some of them. The exact methods that were used are unknown, so the full extent of the damage may never be known. The hardest part for Paul was the memory loss that resulted. Paul only recently uncovered his past when he regained many of his memories. Every now and then he experiences flashbacks which help him to uncover more and more of his past. Sometimes he is not always proud of what he learns, but he would rather know then be left in the dark. The idea that someone may know more about him then he does is very unsettling to Paul. It was not until a few months ago that he learned he was, or at least most of him was, El-Aurian. He still cannot remember his parents or if he has any siblings, and hopes to find them one day. Though since the Borg destroyed El-Auria and scattered what was left of the El-Aurians, it may be quite difficult if even possible for him to do so. Emotional Health: Paul's emotions are usually kept in check and he does not allow them to overwhelm him. He has strong emotions of sadness over the loss of so many friends, family and most of all the violent and brutal death of his fiancée. He also has intense feelings of anger over the betrayal of a close friend and the loss of his memories. He is usually calm, presenting the air people normally attribute to El-Aurians, and can seem too calm at times in tense situations. Paul does have a problem getting close to people and almost seems to have a fear of forming another relationship.
Posts and Assignments in Starfleet: After the USS Melbourne was lost in the Battle of Wolf 359, Paul was transferred to the USS Octavian under Admiral Mark Casey as the Tactical Commander. Paul was later promoted to Lieutenant Commander. After the first officer on the Octavian was transferred, Paul was promoted to Commander and became the ship's Executive Officer and right-hand man to Fleet Admiral Mark Casey. When Admiral Casey left the Octavian, the ship changed hands to Captain Toroca. Paul remained the XO under Toroca and was later offered a command of his own. Out of feelings of loyalty and a sense of belonging Paul declined the command but was soon promoted to the rank of Captain. Following the destruction of the USS Octavian, Paul transferred with the rest of the crew to the USS Dragonstar as the Executive Officer. Paul is currently serving as the Executive Officer of the USS Dragonstar under Commodore Toroca and as second in command of Task Force 17. When Toroca was called away on a priority mission, Paul assumed command of both the Dragonstar and Task Force 17. Recent flashbacks have led Paul to believe he may have served in Starfleet a very long time ago, probably under a different name. He is not sure of what position or positions he has served in or even his ranks, but is sure he has served at least once or twice before. Recent flashbacks have also led Paul to believe he has assisted other departments within Starfleet in the past, specifically Starfleet Intelligence.

Important Events in his Life: The time between his departure from El-Auria and his return is still very unclear, but Paul is sure he visited Earth, as well as many other planets, and may have remained on Earth for a number of years. He believes this is where he adopted his last name of Reilly. Paul returned to El-Auria in the mid 23rd century with hopes of starting a family. He found a position aboard a small El-Aurian trading vessel while he decided what he wanted to do. However, not too long afterward, the El-Aurians' technology caught the eye of the Borg. The Borg came and destroyed El-Auria, assimilating it into their collective and causing the near extinction of the El-Aurian people. The El-Aurian fleet of starships was no match for Borg cubes and was decimated. Many of the ships were destroyed and those left adrift initiated their own self-destruct systems, preventing the Borg from assimilating survivors as well as the El-Aurian's advanced warp drive. The survivors fled their home world and were scattered across the galaxy. Paul was on the trading vessel during the attack, and although they received the distress signal from El-Auria, they arrived too late, though given the destruction of their fleet, one trading vessel would not have made a difference. Paul was devastated when he returned to his home world, his family was gone, his love was gone... his home was gone. Paul tried to remain hopeful that they had survived and were on one of the transports leaving the system, but none of his hails could find them. The captain of the trading vessel decided to rejoin his surviving family on one of the transports and gave the vessel to Paul, though none of the rest of the crew returned to it. Paul decided to keep the vessel and began packing it with what he could scavenge for the trip ahead of him. He found a few other people left behind and offered them a ride if they agreed to work on the ship. Paul made the journey back towards the Alpha Quadrant, away from the threat of the Borg and towards a place he had visited before. Along the way he dropped some people off here and there and picked others up. Eventually he had a small loyal crew who worked together to keep afloat as it were. They took what jobs they could, some better than others, some more honest than others. There is another time gap here where Paul hasn't fully reconstructed his past, but he is sure of a couple events. He was serving aboard a Federation Starship where he befriended a scientist, Dr. Ken Tobius. Dr. Tobius became obsessed with trying to obtain the secret to the El-Aurian's long life that he faked a shuttle accident, where both he and Paul were presumed dead. Paul was transported with Dr. Tobius to Cardassia where began experimenting on Paul's DNA with the Cardassians. The experiments were ruthless, painful, and seemingly never ending, though the outcome was quite different than anticipated. Paul was able to break out of his prison with the aid of a Cardassian he befriended who disagreed with the illegal and brutal experiments. Though he, like many other Cardassians at the time, had no love for Starfleet, he assisted Paul and got him out of Cardassian space. As a result of the experiments, Paul lost his memory. Paul eventually drifted to Xenexian space and was rescued by a small group of people, who referred to themselves as one family or clan. Paul was barely alive but was healed by the clan who rescued him. Paul was unable to remember anything but had a bracelet on his wrist that contained a computer chip of sorts and the name "Reilly" on it. C'ir'h's, the clan's leader gave this stranger the name P'a'l'us and Paul became known as P'a'l'us of Reilly. Paul was accepted into this clan and fell in love with a woman he later asked to marry him. One night in a raid by a rival clan, his fiancée was brutally murdered. C'ir'h's was also killed, and his younger brother, and second in command of the clan, D'm'n was wounded. With the leaders unable to fight, those who survived had the option of joining the other clan as slaves or being killed. Paul, filled with anger, rose up and rallied the survivors for one last attack, and against all odds defeated the rival clan, except for their leader, the one who had also killed Paul's fiancée. Paul was celebrated as a hero and was given leadership over the clan. Paul accepted but only temporarily until D'm'n was healed and could take his family's rightful place as leader. D'm'n was forever grateful and tried to convince Paul to remain on Xenex with his family. Paul had decided to leave, both to search for answers, and the man who killed his love, but always remained in contact with his family on Xenex. In his journeys, Paul met an Admiral by the name of Dan Cooper who convinced him to join Starfleet. Because the Xenexian language is hard to understand and learn, Paul changed his name from P'a'l'us of Reilly to his current name, Paul Reilly. A few years ago during a shoreleave from the USS Octavian, Paul found a lead on the man who killed his fiancée, as well as countless others. Paul was able to track him down and initiated a Xenexian ritual where he defeated him. In the recent years aboard the USS Octavian and later the USS Dragonstar, Paul began to learn more about himself. His telepathic abilities had surfaced, quite uncontrollable at time, as did some other unusual abilities related to his telepathy. Paul had always trusted his instincts, but now came to understand how they always seemed so finely in tune with the world around him. Paul originally resisted using his telepathic abilities, which in turn fought harder to come through. Paul learned to control them, although at times they still surprise him. With Paul learning control over his mind, he began to recover his memories, an event that Paul had been waiting for since he woke up on Xenex. Although not all his memories were happy, and even some he was not too proud of, he was glad to finally know who he was. It wasn't until just recently that Paul discovered that he was an El-Aurian. His DNA had been slightly twisted from the experimentation, and had made it impossible to accurately determine what race he was from. Paul was overwhelmed with so many memories, he found it hard to believe he had been alive for over seven centuries, and then realized he had barely scratched the surface. Unfortunately, Paul regained many of his sadder memories and has only recently begun to remember all those he has lost over the past 700 years. This has led to Paul isolating himself more so than he has done in the past. The death of his fiancée on Xenex had taken its toll on Paul, but now seemed to be only one of many deaths he mourned. Paul began to realize what long life meant, especially when so many others can only dream of it. Paul has not told anyone his recent discoveries, but has mentioned it to a couple friends. He knows eventually he will have to, but wants to take it slow, as he still is just beginning to uncover it himself.
