Important Events in his Life:
Rubik did not lead the average Vulcan childhood. Being the son of a Vulcan Diplomat and a Betazoid Psychohistorian had him moving about quite a lot. His mother worked primarily at Memory Alpha with her colleagues. His father was always on Earth in sessions of the Supreme Assembly. Young Rubik would travel between his home on Vulcan to Earth and Memory Alpha and Betazed, to see his grandparents. His constant traveling made it even harder to control his own behavior than did his mixed heritage.

As a teenager, Rubik returned to Vulcan to finish his studies and undergo the ritual suppression of emotion. Learning to control his feelings took much longer than it would have a normal Vulcan child, but afterwards his father felt he was a normal Vulcan citizen.

Never quite certain of what field he wished to take up, Rubik enrolled into both the Vulcan Academy of Science and the Sarek Academy of Diplomacy and Mediation. Rubik excelled in both areas of schooling. He graduated from the science academy with doctorates in the General Sciences and the Computerized Sciences of Stellar Cartography and Astrometrics, but his greatest feats came in Astrophysics, which he also doctored in. When he graduated from the academy of diplomacy a year later, he left with a doctorate in Advanced Interstellar Diplomacy and a doctorate in the Management of Intergalactic Incidents, a field of study surrounding war and large scale misunderstandings. Rubik's interest in diplomacy also seeded an interest in law. He never formally studied law, however, Starfleet later certified him as a Judge Advocate General Representative.

After completing his formal studies, Rubik set out to make a place for himself. He decided to undergo an advanced track through Starfleet Academy. His great lengths of study in science and diplomacy earned him honorary certifications from the Starfleet Science and Diplomatic Corps. These certification cut nearly two years from his Starfleet training. He spent most of his academy days learning Starfleet regulations and required skills.

In his final year in the academy, Rubik was taken on as a member of the Fett Project. The project was chartered to design a carrier that could deliver a large number of specialized fighters into a war zone. Rubik joined the project as the Director of Sciences; however, he soon found out that in a project like this, scientific research was not nearly as valuable as engineering or tactical research. Rubik convinced the project manager to incorporate a new idea into the design. Rubik began work as the new Director of the AstroTactical development. His team would create an AstroTactical Sensor System that would integrate the carrier's tactical mainframe with its astrometric sensor systems and communications systems, supplying complete computer support to all the fighters. This would create a web between all of the fighters and the carrier, coordinating all tactical efforts through one mainframe carefully supported by the carrier. In theory, this AstroTactical development was a break-through; however, its application has never been carried out.

After graduation Rubik was assigned to the Sovereign Class USS Octavian as the Astrometrics Technician. His first mission was the Octavian's last. The Octavian was sent to the Gamma Quadrant to investigate unusual Dominion and/or renegade Dominion activity. What it found was a battle-strewn Dominion Dreadnought and the wreckage of a Borg vessel. What ensued was a battle that ravaged both ships. The crew of the Octavian worked to help the Dominion renegades fight off the Borg long enough for Federation backup to arrive. If the Borg were able to gain communications control, they would be able to contact the collective and inform them of the existence of such a powerful stellar power as the Dominion. In the end only portions of the Octavian made it out of the battle and were towed to Avalon Prime by the USS Thunderchild.

Rubik and Simon Wise spent their shoreleave defending Rear Admiral Toroca in his court martial for the loss of the Octavian. The verdict was not the one they had hoped for, but it was bearable, Toroca would be demoted to Commodore and would be placed on probation.

Toroca was given command of the Prometheus Class USS Dragonstar. Rubik's Chief, Ari Kirali resigned shortly after his first mission and Simon was promoted to Chief Science Officer. This left the new Lieutenant junior grade Rubik the position of Assistant Chief.

The Dragonstar was soon deployed along side the USS Arizona to combat a Delkathi threat. The joint mission was successful in destroying the Delkathi's attempt to use a mechanism of mass destruction to destroy the worlds of its enemies.

The Dragonstar's next mission was to investigate a missing ship report. The mission made several confusing turns. The missing crew was returned to her ship after being released from mind control units and an unusual monolith. At the end of this mission, Rubik received a promotion to full Lieutenant.

The Dragonstar's most recent mission averted an interstellar war. The failure of the Dragonstar/Arizona mission in an alternate universe led to that universe's Delkathi destroying most of the Alliance's worlds. Their planet smasher, however, poked holes in space, leaking their dimension into ours. The Dragonstar was able to seal the dimensional rifts and Federation envoys have been dispatched to the Delkathi homeworld.

The crew enjoyed some long awaited rest and relaxation on Earth. Simon's birthday party was wonderful, but this shoreleave has marked a turning point in Rubik's life.

Rubik's father was assassinated using a strain of a lethal virus (Vexxel) that destroys the psychocortex, the telepathic center of the Vulcan brain. Just before dying, Ruthakh chose Rubik to carry his Katra to the ritual temple. The Katra, while not actually carrying the virus to Rubik, had caused damage to Ruthakh's mind, and the Katra caused serious disruption within Rubik's already sensitive phsycocortex. Shortly after releasing Ruthakh's Katra to the temple and returning to his home on Earth, Rubik began to realize that his mental walls that secured his emotion from his consciousness were breaking down.

After touring with the Dragonstar in its next mission, Rubik decided that he needed to leave the line and return to the Federation core for a short time. In this few month period of time, he traveled several times between Earth and Vulcan. He spent most of his time meditating and completing routine stellar research at Starfleet Headquarters. Technically, he was still posted on the Dragonstar, so he did not bother registering for formal duty at headquarters or the academy. It was in his last month on Earth that he enrolled as a Command Student. His instructor was impressed with his preliminary performances; when Commodore Toroca requested Rubik to return and take up his post, his instructor was willing to allow him to finish his command studies in the field under the Commodore’s supervision.

Rubik has continued to serve on the USS Dragonstar throughout its tactical-oriented missions. Experienced in battle situation after years of service on the Octavian and Dragonstar, he has made the personal safety of his staff his primary goal. It is a relief and a joy to him - as much as those emotions are disconcerting - that the Dragonstar's next mission will be exploratory. The Science Department is bristling with excitement.
